November 20, 1952 Middle School Teacher Married Tony Oteri No Gael Nielsen and I remain friends.
After 30 years in corporate America, in 2003, Tony and I moved from Memphis, TN to Florida.  At that time, there was a shortage of teachers, so I went back to school and received an alternative teaching degree.  I am teaching technology and computer applications.  Dealing with parents, 12-15 year old children and the fact that schools are run by the government, makes this the hardest work I have ever done.  The first 3 years were extremely challenging; however, after 7 years, I think I am finally getting the hang of it.  Tony and I love our life, enjoy traveling, rescued our dog Charlie and cat Henry.  Summers I volunteer at Animal Control and Seamark Ranch-a home for boys and girls. August 08, 1952 Program Manager Divorced Yes I have lived all over since High School and had three very different careers. In '76 I moved to CA and became a restaurant manager for a very large Corporation, WR Grace. I then was recruited by a customer to design/build a French restaurant, which was great fun. I moved back to IL in '83 and went to work for Stouffers Corp as a regional manager for their restaurants in Evanston and Chicago. My 2nd career lasted 7 years working for two different Architectural firms specializing in restaurant design. My 3rd career began in AZ in '92 with Intel, where I was in various Management positions. While with Intel I lived in AZ 3 years, then transferred to OR for 10 years and jumped at the opportunity to come back to IL for a Sales and Marketing position in '05. I took an early retirement beginning in '09 and have been doing freelance work since.

August 23, 1952 Retired from higher education administration Widowed Jerry Burger No What I've been doing for the last 10 years reads like a bad novel. My husband and I retired in 1999 and did some consulting. We had an absolute blast traveling, golfing, & barely working -- generally doing whatever we wanted and thoroughly enjoying our life together. Then the wheels fell off when my brothers died in 2006 and my husband in 2007. Since then, I've been dealing with an overdose of grief, compounded by having to deal with damage to my house from two tornados, an earthquake, a lightning strike, a bad roofing job, two years of record rains with water coming in both the roof and basement, plus the loss of my brother-in-law who was a dear friend. I have been relentlessly picking up the pieces to get my life back together and to turn the house back into my sanctuary. It has been a great help to be very close with my in-laws and to have many great friends. When I'm not fixing my house or my mom's house, I am golfing, quilting, playing pool, and getting in some traveling. While I don't plan to make it to the reunion dinner, I might be able to get up that way and join the Friday night event.

March 11, 1952 Shot Caller Married 2 Jean Skarlat Tritle Yup Working, racing (even winning), changing jobs, cultivating grandkids (2-13, 7 of em, 4 boys, 3 goils), running a small marketing business, giving seminars at the World Drag Racing Expo, keeping the grass cut, the snow shoveled, cars running and getting close to having the house paid for. Am involved with Chambers of Commerce in DeKalb, Sycamore and Rochelle where after 35 years of working from out of the local area to nationwide, I'm promoting local causes and community building. Most recently joined Advance Auto Parts as Assistant Manager at the Rockford location on 11th St.

Larry Krol and I still hang out and meet for dinner at Eduardo's in DeKalb from time to time and Dave White drops me a note regularly on Facebook. I still own my first new car and it's a lot louder and faster than it was in 74 when I drove it out of the showroom in DesPlaines. I was driving it when I won my first national drag racing event in 2001.

More importantly I'm looking forward to the next ten years when one of my grandboys who has the talent will take over as my race driver, and the rest of them will go on to establishing their careers unless the government buries them too deeply in national debt!

Yes, I've become a lot more politically savvy as well...

Looking forward to comparing notes in July!
Missing the 30th has bugged me for 10 years.  Even though I'm the head cheeze in charge of the Turning Back Time Cruise Night on July 24th this year, I will hit the road in the hot rod if necessary to get to the reunion right after we hit the parking lot at the end of the run.

Am older, fatter and a little lighter on the top of my head but the grey has held off for the most part and I can still cut a .00somthing reaction time at the starting line.  The job situation has not been kind for the past 3 years but am working on that too!

I invite you all to search me out on Facebook so we can keep up with the day to day BSing over there.  I have two pages, my own, Mike Tritle and I maintain the Turning Back Time Weekend page as well.  No friend request is turned down!

See you all in July!

April 07, 1952 mechanic/artist/student/musician Divorced 1 Unfortunately not Scott Taylor, died 2008. Keith Peterson, died 2007. I've been making wage as a porsche mechanic for the last 34 years. I also have pursued my art sporadically for the last 30 and have a small piece in the permanent collection of the Denver Art Museum (if any of you recall, I did win the senior award in art at some point during our last year---did they give me that at our graduation?)
The most recent developement which I never thought could happen is that I'm now a junior @ Metropolitan State College Denver!---working towards a B.S.in Biology! I spent my most of my H.S. years in the Art Room trying to avoid anything that smacked of math, biology, or chemistry (just going part-time and working @ the garage still).
The other big (and sad) news on this side was about the death of my younger sister Jill(class of '72)who died 12/19/09. On the other side now, she is; we'll all get there sooner or later!
My son, Orion (31), graduated from the same college I now attend with his B.S. in Biology and is now the successful owner of a Crossfit training center(he started lifting when he was 16) Man, is this kid cut!
I have no desire to "retire": I'm living my life exactly as to how I want.
It will probably be some combination of the same thing I'm doing now with a little less on mechanic time. They'll never let me out all the way---I know too much! And all of us Chicago kids know what happens when one knows too much...(think found face down in the sticks!)...take care; I love you all.
H.

December 27, 1951 interior designer Married 2 Tommy don't think I can make it I've been busy running my interior design business and art gallery(25 yrs!), taking care of aging parents and playing with grandchildren. My daughters are not too far away. The youngest returning from NYC after she and her husband decided the job ( he was an editor for the Wall Street Journal)was less important than family and raising the family with midwest values. I am so thrilled to have them close! The other daughter and her guy are in Louisville, so just a hour and a half away. We meet halfway for lunch sometimes!

October 26, 1952 Restaurant owner pizzeriascotty.com Married 2 Joanne Vaughn (Werling) yes Since the summer of 1970, I have spent the majority of my life in the restaurant and hospitality business. In 1972, I was drafted and chose to spend my next two years in the U.S. Marine Corps. When I got out in 1974, I moved to Champaign, IL with the intent of going to school. I ended up working for and eventually running the largest chain of rock & roll clubs in Illinois. Seeing the need to get out of the "fast lane", I transitioned to the calmer waters of the restaurant business. In 1985, I moved to Milwaukee to open a pizzeria. I have operated and owned that business for 25 years now.

On a personal note, Joanne and I got reaquainted at our 20 year reunion. We got married in 1997. For the past 13 years, Joanne has had the formidable task of keeping me from being too crazy and nutty. She has had pretty good success, with the exception of when I get together with my long time best buddies, and fellow FVHS grad's, Bobb Bell and Glen Spiegler.

Life is pretty good right now. Joanne has worked hard to climb to the upper echelons of the private equity firm she works for. I worked long and hard to build my business. Just recently, "Milwaukee Magazine" recognized my pizzeria as one of the best pizzeria's in the city. After years of struggles and sacrifice, we are both enjoying life together, along with our family and friends.
